WANO follow-up corporate peer review took place at Rosenergoatom. International experts from Iran, China, India and Russia assessed the progress made following the 2021 main review and the effectiveness of corrective measures.

REA Director General Alexander Shutikov called peer reviews an important tool for increasing the reliability and operational safety of nuclear power plants. Over the past period, the concern has not only carried out targeted work on areas for improvement, but is also conducting planned work to improve the quality of operation; this is a continuous process.

“We noted the atmosphere of openness and trust in which the visit took place, as well as high professionalism of the management and staff,” commented the review coordinator, WANO MC adviser Sergey Faller.

The experts rated the improvement of all areas for improvement identified in 2021 as Level B (Progress under control as planned). They also noted a number of good practices, for example, in the field of assessing operational risks, introducing a diagnostic system for electrical equipment, etc.
