WANO experts reviewed Novovoronezh NPP for the first time using the Enhanced Performance Monitoring methodology

The visit of experts from Moscow Centre of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) to Novovoronezh NPP ended, during which a team of five functional experts worked for the first time under the enhanced performance monitoring program.
This is an updated model of interaction and support from WANO as part of the “Action for Excellence: Shaping Nuclear Future” initiative to improve its member organizations’ performance.
It provides for the creation, within 2-3 years, of new and effective mechanisms of interaction between WANO and its members, aimed, among other things, at significantly improving the performance of nuclear power plants by 2030.
Several Russian and some foreign nuclear power plants have already become pilots for the use of this process. Their performance is reviewed using more than 50 indicators to identify important issues of reliability and performance improvement. All this is aimed at maintaining the high safety standards that Rosatom follows, as well as at continuously increasing the very level of safety and reliability of the industry’s enterprises, including nuclear power plants.
