Novovoronezh NPP Peer Review

Novovoronezh NPP Peer Review
A WANO Moscow Centre team conducted a peer review of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant. Participants included WANO employees and experts invited from other nuclear power plants, both Russian and international.

7 of the 19 participants were foreign specialists: experts from WANO Tokyo (former Tarapur NPP director, India) and Atlanta centres (from Barakah NPP, UAE), Bulgaria, Iran, Armenia and China.

In addition, at the final stage of the review, the team was joined by Anatoly Kirichenko, WANO Moscow Centre First Deputy Director, and Movses Vardanyan, Armenian NPP Director.

The team of experts was tasked with accurately identifying strengths and deficiencies in the nuclear power plant's functional and general operational areas. The deficiencies could hinder the achievement of industry standards for high performance.

The team was engaged in revealing facts. According to the peer review methodology, a fact is a deviation from the correct method of performing work, best practice examples, or improperly executed work.

Based on the collected data, the experts identified areas for improvement that highlight what is lacking in achieving excellence in this area of the nuclear power plant's performance.
