Kola NPP Peer Review
From September 29 to October 17, 2025, WANO Shanghai office, in cooperation with WANO Moscow Centre, conducted a peer review of Kola NPP, the purpose of which was to assess the plant's activities to improve the level of safe and reliable plant operation.
The peer review team consisted of 20 experts representing the UK, China, Pakistan, and Russia. The team was led by Zhou Jun, a representative from Shanghai office.
The peer review covered all fundamental, functional, and general operational areas. The following peer review stages were completed:
• Preliminary visit
• Maintenance observations during outage
• Observations of control room operating personnel on a simulator (CPO)
• Work observations during the second week of the review
• Development of areas for improvement and strengths
• Assessment of nuclear safety culture
• Review of SOER recommendations’ implementation
