From 3 to 5 December, 2024, WANO Moscow Centre together with Rosenergoatom and Kozloduy NPP conducted a workshop on the topic: “Aging management of system components and structures at NPPs”. The event was held in videoconference format on the Telemost platform. The meeting was attended by chief experts and leading specialists of nuclear power plants from Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Iran, China, Russia, Turkey, as well as Rosenergoatom, Atomflot and Shanghai office.
Opening the workshop, Moscow Centre director, Vasily Aksyonov, noted that previously nuclear power plants were designed for a service life of 30 years, today 70% of power units operate beyond this established design period, so the issue of managing the aging process of nuclear power plant equipment is relevant for the safety and reliable operation of power units.
Moscow Centre adviser Sergey Lesin spoke about the activities of the “Action for Excellence” initiative, about the implementation of the “Enhanced performance monitoring” program for continuous performance improvement at nuclear power plants, familiarized the participants with the WANO GP 2020-31 document: “Excellence-in-Ageing-Management".
