From 29 to 31 October, 2024, WANO Moscow Centre together with the Novovoronezh branch of Rosatom Technical Academy conducted a workshop on the topic: “Experience in using various simulators for training NPP operating personnel. Methodology for conducting observations of operators’ work and criteria for assessing actions’ correctness”. The event was held in Novovoronezh. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange experience in using various simulators for training NPP operating personnel.
The meeting was attended by both simulator training instructors and heads of relevant areas, representing seven nuclear power plants from Armenia, Belarus, China, Russia, as well as experts and leading specialists from organizations: JSC VNIIAES, FSUE Atomflot, Marine and River Fleet State University named after Admiral S.O. Makarov.
The workshop participants visited a full-scale and multifunctional simulator (VVER-1200), an ED equipment simulator, a simulator for localizing fistulas and working fluid leaks, and mock-ups of process equipment. On the final day at the round table, the participants discussed positive experiences in improving the efficiency of personnel training, proposals for improving the training process on simulators, and current topics for the next workshop.
Materials from the reports were sent to each participant. Based on the workshop results, a memorandum was prepared, which will be sent to the participants for use in their work.
