Member Support Mission for Kozloduy NPP (Bulgaria)

From 1 to 5 July, 2024, WANO Moscow Centre together with Paris Centre and Shanghai Office, conducted a support mission (MSM) on the topic: “Analysis of equipment reliability at nuclear power plants and practical management of operational risks” at Kozloduy NPP. The mission took place in an expert format.

The following experts took part in the WANO mission:
• Ivan Goncharov, WANO Moscow Centre,
• Dmitry Almikeev, WANO Moscow Centre,
• Emanuelle Barbosa de Mattos (WANO PC),
• Tomáš Homola (NPP Dukovany, Czech Republic),
• Longfei FU (WANO SHO).

The MSM goal was to gain experience on the following issues:
• Analysis of defects and failures;
• Risk-oriented maintenance and repair;
• Typical gaps in maintaining a high level of equipment reliability;
• WANO indicators related to equipment reliability;
• Risk management;
• Dynamic fault tree;
• Risk management software systems.

At the final meeting with Kozloduy NPP management, experts presented recommendations for improving the effectiveness of equipment reliability analysis at nuclear power plants and practical risk management and a draft MSM report.
