The workshop was opened by Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant Director General Sergei Bobovich. Welcoming the international workshop participants, the head of the plant emphasized that Safety Culture and Leadership in Nuclear Energy are priority in all areas of activity of Belarusian NPP personnel. He noted that the technical support and assistance from WANO Moscow Centre provided to the Belarusian NPP new units is highly valued: the knowledge gained is used in the training of plant personnel.
The Training Centre has created a close-knit team of leading instructors with extensive experience in the main workshops, who gained experience during support missions and peer reviews conducted by WANO Moscow Centre. Increased attention is paid to modern technologies, simulators and equipment for training the younger generation of nuclear scientists and maintaining the qualifications of plant workers. The potential of the experience and knowledge of personnel who came to work at Belarusian NPP from nuclear power plants in Russia is especially widely used. In conclusion, the Director General wished the meeting participants successful work.
WANO MC adviser Sergei Lesin conveyed greetings to the workshop participants from Moscow Centre Director Vasily Aksenov and introduced the listeners to WANO programs, Action for Excellence, which is being implemented at WANO MC nuclear plants.
