Member Support Mission at Smolensk NPP
From 15 to 19 April, 2024, WANO Moscow Centre conducted a support mission on the topic “Principles of effective personnel performance” at Smolensk NPP.

WANO MC support mission team included:

• Evgeniy Kovalev (WANO MC, Russia),
• Wang Tingkui (WANO MC, China),
• Tatyana Melnitskaya (“Rosatom Technical Academy”, Russia),
• Irina Kosareva (Rosenergoatom JSC Central Office, Russia),
• Pavel Ryabinkin (Leningrad NPP, Russia),
• Vyacheslav Neuimin (Beloyarsk NPP, Russia),
• Igor Lipunov (Kalinin NPP, Russia).

The member support mission was conducted in an expert format. The experts presented their experience in implementing the principles of effective personnel performance in presentations. The following WANO documents were observed: “SOER ǀ 2013-1 Deficiencies in the operator fundamentals’ implementation” and “WANO GL 2002-02 Principles of effective personnel performance”.

Ways and methods of using error prevention tools were also discussed. During the mission, observations were made of the operating personnel performance at the full-scale simulator of Smolensk NPP. The WANO MC team presented to Smolensk NPP its conclusions, recommendations and proposals developed during the work of the support mission. The MSM results are presented in the form of a final report.
