Member Support Mission at the RBMK TDEC of Leningrad NPP
From 13 to 15 February 2024 a member support mission (MSM) on the topic: “Management and organization. Management of planning processes and organization of work on the preparation and decommissioning of RBMK power units” was conducted at the Test and Demonstration Engineering Centre for decommissioning of nuclear power plant units with channel type reactor facilities (RBMK TDEC), Rosenergoatom branch.
The following experts took part in the WANO mission:
• Musin Galim (WANO MC, Russia)
• Kotykov Ruslan (Leningrad NPP, Russia)
• Gavrikov Vladimir (Bilibino NPP, Russia)
• Mokshin Sergey (Beloyarsk NPP, Russia)
• Gridnev Evgeniy (Kursk NPP, Russia)
• Fedorov Pavel (VNIIAES, Russia)
• Biryukov Alexey (NIKIET, Russia)
• Korneev Ivan (TVEL, Russia).
Besides, in addition to the RBMK TDEC personnel, representatives of the Rosenergoatom central office and Leningrad NPP took part in the MSM.
The MSM purpose was to obtain practical recommendations for improving performance on the MSM topic.
Issues of interest to the RBMK TDEC are listed below:
• Experience in organizing project management for units’ decommissioning.
• Organization of the unit decommissioning process, work planning.
• Creation of infrastructure for inspection, dismantling, fragmentation, decontamination, removal from radiation control and storage of equipment, sending radioactive waste to disposal sites.
• Current problems in organizing work on units’ decommissioning.
At the final meeting with the RBMK TDEC management, experts presented a draft MSM report and proposals for improving activities in the field of process management for the preparation and decommissioning of channel-type power units.
