From 15 to 20 October 2023, WANO Moscow Centre conducted a follow-up peer review of Kola NPP, the purpose of which was to analyze and assess the status of areas for improvement identified during the operational peer review in October 2021.
The expert’s team consisted of 3 people, WANO Moscow Centre employees. Team leader Viktor Livinsky, WANO MC adviser, checked the areas for improvement (AfI): “Operation” and “Priority Operational Goals”. Other experts conducted AfI assessment on the following directions:
• Yuri Shchelik, WANO MC representative at Kalinin NPP, - “Maintenance and Repair” and “Engineering and Technical Support” areas,
• Evgeniy Khromovskikh (Russia), WANO MC adviser, was the review coordinator and worked in the areas of “Chemistry” and “Personnel Training”.
Also, WANO MC representative at Kola NPP Sergey Kuzin participated in the team’s work, he interacted between experts and plant employees.
The WANO MC team assessed the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions developed by Kola NPP based on the 2021 peer review results. Experts noted that the station has completed a significant amount of work in all performance areas and there is an opportunity to continue further performance improvement.
On 20 October, a final meeting of the team experts and Kola NPP management and counterparts was held, at which the plant managers thanked the experts and station counterparts for their fruitful joint work, that was aimed at maintaining high levels of safety and reliability of the plant’s systems and equipment.
The experts’ team leader, Viktor Livinsky, presented the plant director with a preliminary report on the peer review results and thanked the Kola NPP personnel for constructive cooperation and good working conditions.
